Chiang Mai Region
Location
Chiang Mai is located in Northern Thailand at about 350 meters (1150 feet) above sea level and is the second largest City in the Country – though decidedly smaller than Bangkok. The Resort Lanna Life Lofts is situated at the North-eastern Edge of a plateau with views of the impressive mountain range – a paradise for nature Lovers. In close proximity, the small town of Doi Saket (10 minutes by shuttle) offers shopping possibilities plus walking trails along a Khlong (Canal) and at the Lotuslake. Shopping Malls in Chiang Mai are located about 30 minutes away (by car) and the Airport can be reached in 45 minutes.
Climate
The climate in Thailand is tropical-monsunal. The temperatures during the day are always above 20 degrees Celsius (68 Degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the year. During the night and in the mornings it is normally cooler in northern Thailand than in the South, especially in the months of January and February (below 20 degrees Celsius ). The rainy Season lasts from May to September, however the precipitation is usually of short duration (temperature between 24 and 34 degrees Celsius, 75 respectively 93 Degrees Fahrenheit). Sometimes it can get hot and humid in the months of April and May (up to 39 degrees Celsius or 102 Degrees Fahrenheit).
The people
The people we encounter are laid back and helpful. This affects the guests as well, and very soon they themselves will be relaxed and feel good in these surroundings.
Medical Care
Medical care (for example at the Bangkok Hospital in Chiang Mai; the best Hospital chain in Asia) is very accomodating and on a very high standard. There are rarely problems with tropical diseases, as everything is clean and well maintained. Many guests are even able to reduce their medications after a short period.
The handling of the Covid-19 pandemic by the Thai authorities and the population is exemplary. While Switzerland recorded 231.2 deaths per million inhabitants, Thailand had 0.84.
